This technical leadership role within Hatch's eGRID business offers professional growth opportunities in the System Performance and Planning department. The role involves business development, team leadership, and technical analysis for clients across North America and globally. The candidate will lead and mentor transmission and distribution planning engineers and collaborate with various departments on HVdc, FACTS, and power sector master plans.

The position requires working within multidisciplinary teams on power system planning, analysis, and feasibility studies for various power projects. Responsibilities include managing project schedules, client engagement, proposal management, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations, including NERC/FERC policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Business development: generating leads, securing agreements, preparing proposals
  • Expertise in power system studies, especially EMT analysis
  • Conducting or coordinating load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, and small-signal stability analyses
  • Developing functional specifications and preliminary designs for system development projects
  • Reviewing studies for standards compliance and quality
  • Preparing detailed reports and delivering presentations
  • Project management and team mentorship
  • Collaborating across business units for cross-selling and staffing
  • Engaging in thought leadership activities such as conferences and whitepapers
Qualifications:
  • BSc in Electrical Engineering; MSc or PhD in Power System Planning preferred
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with Canadian engineering associations
  • Proficiency with EMT software (PSCAD, RTDS, EMTP, etc.) and experience with AC/DC system studies
  • Experience with PSS(R)E, PYTHON scripting, and other planning tools like PSLF or DigSilent
  • Minimum 10 years in power system analysis and planning
