Job DescriptionJob Description

We’re looking for a Senior Estimator with at least 5 years of experience in structural steel who can take the lead in managing the estimating process from start to finish. This includes everything from generating leads and building relationships with clients and vendors, to getting bids out the door and working closely with the production team to ensure smooth project execution.

You’ll play a key role in bringing in $10 million+ in profitable work per year while helping us continue to grow our business and enhance our company culture. We need someone who’s a team player, with a strong focus on communication, business development, and client relationships.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Own the estimating process from initial lead through to final project turnover, ensuring smooth handoffs to the production team.
• Build strong, lasting relationships with clients and vendors, and be a driving force in generating new business.
• Lead efforts to bring in $10 million+ in profitable work annually by putting together highly competitive, well-thought-out bids.
• Prepare accurate and comprehensive estimates for structural steel projects, ensuring all aspects of the job are covered.
• Lead project strategy discussions and collaborate with project managers and other team members to align goals.
• Ensure cost-efficiency through value engineering and identifying opportunities for cost savings without sacrificing quality.
• Support the transition from preconstruction to operations once the project is awarded, working closely with the team to ensure smooth project execution.
• Help maintain a positive and collaborative company culture, contributing to an environment where everyone feels supported and motivated.

What You Need

• 5+ years of experience in structural steel estimating with a track record of handling projects from start to finish.
• Proven ability to bring in $10M+ in profitable work per year and develop solid business relationships.
• Strong communication skills — you’ll be working with clients, vendors, project managers, and leadership teams.
• A business development mindset and the ability to grow our client base through excellent customer service and relationship-building.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and bids at once while keeping a sharp eye on deadlines.
• Solid understanding of steel fabrication and erection, along with proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Tekla, Bluebeam, FabTrol, SDS/2, etc.).
• A team-player attitude with strong interpersonal skills, able to work closely with others to bring projects to life.
• A passion for bringing value to the company and enhancing company culture through collaboration and positive contributions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is a plus, but experience is what matters most.
