Overview

Senior Structural Engineer (Bridges) in Canada. The Bridges Department - Central Region, based in Ontario, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer (Bridges) for the team in Ontario. The role reports to the Manager, Bridges - Central Region and is responsible for project management and structural lead in bridges and structural engineering projects, including development, analysis, design, evaluation, inspection, and execution of various projects. This is a hybrid position with the office based in Toronto.

Your role within the team
  • Lead a structural design team for a variety of projects.
  • Apply advanced engineering techniques and tools for solving complex engineering challenges.
  • Direct, coach, support and guide employees (engineers and technicians) assigned to projects.
  • Advise management and collaborate with other disciplines.
  • Prepare proposals and participate in business development including publications and conferences.
  • Prepare structural designs and evaluations, and contract packages for the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) with key clients (MTO, Metrolinx, Municipalities and TTC), including current Ministry policies, procedures, standards, specifications, and manuals.
  • Experience with reviewing condition survey reports and making recommendations for rehabilitation strategy.

The ideal candidate
  • Degree in Civil Engineering (preferably with a structural major). Registered as Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with PEO.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering practice in analysis and design of various types of bridge and transportation structures; railway structures is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects with a variety of complexity, type of bridge, size and scope.
  • Experience with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC) and the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) Code.
  • Proficient in SAP 2000, CSI Bridge, MIDAS, Staad Pro, ETABS, Bentley ProjectWise and Microsoft Office applications.
