Job summary

Tri Innovations, based in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the structural team on diverse projects across North America. The role requires a strong background in civil/structural engineering, design of steel and foundations, and collaboration with vendors and construction teams.

• Licensed with APEGA or eligible for P.Eng. in Canada.
• 10+ years of structural engineering experience; lead experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural engineering team in developing project deliverables.
• Prepare drawings, calculations, specs, datasheets, and bid evaluations.
• Maintain structural procedures and specifications.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and prepare site observation reports.
• Attend project coordination meetings with internal/external teams.
• Participate in value engineering and cost estimation.

Senior Structural Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Leading the structural engineering team in the development of project deliverables.
• Prepare technical drawings, calculations, equipment specifications, datasheets, material requisitions, and technical bid evaluations.
• Maintain corporate structural engineering work procedures and specifications.
• Review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks.
• Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
• Participate in value engineering and basic cost estimating.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited University.
• Registered with APEGA, or registered with the provincial body as an engineer in another province in Canada, and eligible for registration with APEGA as a P.Eng.
• 10+ years of structural engineering experience. Experience as a discipline lead or project lead is an asset.
• Working knowledge of Canadian building codes and standards, relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Experience with structural analysis software S-Frame, RISA 3D, RISA Connection is an asset.
• Experience with engineering design of structural steel, steel connections, modularization, piles, concrete foundations, engineering calculations.
• Experience working with steel fabrication vendors and site construction work and responding to RFI’s in a timely fashion.
• Well organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects. Strong organizational interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada, be a resident, and residing in Calgary or be willing to relocate to Calgary, to be considered for the position.
