Lead and support M&A activities including strategy development, target outreach, and transaction execution to drive incremental growth and create new value for TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods.

About the team and the impact you’ll make:

The Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) team is a dynamic, high-performance team that plays a critical role in the inorganic growth and strategic expansion of TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods. The M&A team is dedicated to identifying, evaluating, and executing on strategic acquisitions in order to add massive, incremental value and advance the strategic agenda for TELUS Business. In close partnership with various Business Units, Corporate Development, TELUS Ventures, and the Post Acquisition Integration team, the M&A team drives a portfolio of inorganic growth opportunities from ideation to close.

The Senior Strategy Manager, M&A will report to the Director, M&A and play a key role leading and supporting multiple, concurrent M&A initiatives with partners across TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods. As a Senior Strategy Manager, you will be focused on creating and executing on the growth strategy across our divisions. You’ll collaborate with other members of the M&A team, and work across the TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods organization and the broader TELUS enterprise on strategic planning, executive reporting, and market research. You will also work closely with TELUS’ Corporate Development and Ventures teams to assess potential acquisitions and investment targets, as well as support transaction execution and due diligence. The role is high-profile and plays a central role in defining the inorganic roadmap for several TELUS business units with the responsibility to execute on the plan as well.

How you’ll do it:

  • Act as an internal consultant and collaborate with various business leadership teams to develop and/or refine M&A optionality in alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Lead and support strategy development and ensure alignment across TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods as well as with the broader TELUS organization. This means developing regular updates to our executive team, and working on ad-hoc executive requests.
  • Conduct market research to identify M&A opportunities, including assessing market trends, industry dynamics, and competitive intensity within multiple areas across the AgTech, Animal Health and/or Consumer Goods value chain.
  • Evaluate and screen target companies including comprehensive assessment of a target’s financial profile, go-to-market strategy, operational and technology capabilities, and potential strategic fit with TELUS.
  • Working in partnership with our Corporate Development and TELUS Ventures teams, drive transaction execution including sophisticated financial analysis, valuation, synergy modeling, commercial due diligence, and risk mitigation for potential acquisitions and/or venture targets.
  • Lead and support target outreach, relationship management, and funnel development activities including potentially working with 3rd party advisors.
  • Support integration planning and strategy in conjunction with the Post Acquisition Integration team.
  • Manage a portfolio of concurrent initiatives often under high urgency.
  • Prepare highly-polished, senior executive level materials that synthesize complex information into concise, insightful formats.
  • Support M&A program updates and corporate reporting requirements.
Qualifications

You’re the missing piece of the puzzle

You are likely in a similar strategy or investment analysis role today, with many of the following talents and experience items:

  • You have a passion for identifying technology growth opportunities and leading end-to-end M&A activities from opportunity identification to due diligence, executive pitching and integration planning.
  • You have a solid understanding of M&A, corporate investing and/or strategy execution practices within large tier 1 organizations.
  • You are known for financial acumen, with proven experience in financial analysis and business case development.
  • You have both analytical / critical thinking skills AND great storytelling / presentation abilities.
  • You have been successful in M&A, strategy consulting or equity research, ideally from a consulting firm, investment bank or a large enterprise organization like ours.
  • You have broad knowledge of the AgriBusiness or Consumer Packaged Goods industry.
  • You are a go-to for analyzing financial statements (ratio analysis, performance return measures) and understand financial valuation methodologies (discounted cash flow, payback period, comparable company analysis).
  • Your financial modelling skills include an ability to develop driver based business case analysis including NPV and ROI analysis.

Salary Range: $99,000-$149,000

Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 15%

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience. In addition, TELUS offers rewarding benefits, which may vary per job function, such as:
