An exciting Temporary Full-Time Senior Strategic Human Resources Business Partner - Strategic Operations exists in our Talent Acquisition, Employee & Labour Relations department.

Type: Replacement

Summary of Duties, but not limited to:

  • In collaboration with the HR and management team, responsible for designing a comprehensive workforce plan which encompasses short and long-term strategies and goals.
  • Leads various HR projects within subspecialty areas: HR strategic operations.
  • Generate research activities to build an understanding of talent needs versus capacity.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities to implement strategies to improve and optimize the applicant tracking system.
  • Aligns strategic people and equity initiatives with corporate plans through effective project management and communication.
  • Support Employee/Labour Relationships with various initiatives such as investigations and restorative relationship initiatives.
  • Act as an SME and provide value added advice to leadership and staff on various policies and procedures as they relate to different areas of HR.
  • Leads and/or participates in the development and implementation of HR programs that aim to increase employee engagement and WCH’s brand recognition.
  • Partners with HR management to develop and execute various HR solutions that support strategic objectives, ensuring alignment with the overall Hospital culture, mission, values, and strategic plan.
  • Develop detailed project plans and schedules for various department initiatives based on approved objectives and deliverables; communicates project changes, challenges, and status updates to stakeholders.
  • Monitors, tracks, and evaluates the progress and adherence to project milestones, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Creates communication and promotional activities and materials in line with initiatives.
  • Support and lead special projects within the HR department.

As a role model and champion, you will work to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.

Qualifications

  • Business Administration, Human Resources or related undergraduate degree.
  • Master’s degree in industrial/Labour Relations, Human Resources or relevant study an asset.
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience as an HR professional in a unionized workplace.
  • Health care or broader public sector experience in HR preferred.
  • Expert knowledge and experience with HR practices and principles including provincial legislation (Human Rights, Employment Standards, AODA, Health and Safety), Collective Agreement administration and the ability to effectively interpret and apply accordingly.
  • Strong Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint working knowledge.
  • Strong mentorship and relationship management skills with experience in partnering, influencing, coaching and building credibility with leaders and the HR team.
  • Strong change management skills with demonstrated ability to act as a catalyst for change within the operation.
  • Strong business acumen and issue resolution skills with the ability to deal with situations in an open, objective and flexible manner.
  • Demonstrated experience in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Administrator level experience in Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
  • Knowledge of Social Media Tools and Job Posting sites.
  • Previous experience with strategic recruitment and workforce planning programs and initiatives within a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical, partnership building, customer service and problem solving experience.
  • Experience within a high volume recruitment environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of current recruitment issues, occupational/technical testing methods and interviewing techniques.
  • Sound knowledge of compensation principles and labour relations.
  • Demonstrated WCH vision mission and values.
  • Proven attendance and punctuality.
  • Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital.
  • This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all.
