Job summary

Vital Bio seeks a Senior Staff Engineer to spearhead the design transfer of a cutting-edge analytical IVD instrument. This on-site leadership role requires deep hardware expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and proactive problem-solving to drive from design transfer to manufacturing ramp-up.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, or related Engineering.
• 10+ years of engineering experience with hardware design for complex instruments or medical devices.
• 4+ years of direct people management in an engineering leadership role.
• Experience with software/firmware teams and embedded systems development.
• Familiarity with regulatory testing and medical/IVD device standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers in design transfer of an analytical IVD instrument.
• Own end-to-end hardware design transfer under tight timelines to enable manufacturing ramp-up.
• Drive design release processes with cross-functional reviews and QA alignment.
• Collaborate with supply chain to address sourcing issues and ensure timely product release.
• Develop and deploy manufacturing test methods and fixtures for assembly and tests.
• Provide engineering guidance for external lab testing, verification, and certification activities.
• Identify and mitigate risk with engineering rigor and proactive planning.
• Foster a collaborative, hands-on team culture focused on delivery.
