What you'll do and learn:

1. Independently lead complex technical initiatives within and beyond your team.
2. Drive technical direction and roadmap, lead across domain teams, and guide others towards the right technical decisions.
3. Author ADRs (Architecture Decision Records) that serve as blueprints or proposed solutions for technical problems and influence overall tech strategy.
4. Responsible for one or more large functional areas possessing in-depth knowledge and expertise.
5. Demonstrate a strong systems approach, proactively addressing performance, security, and future-proofing solutions.
6. Take ownership of complex projects, driving them from conception to successful implementation.
7. Act as a change agent to set high standards and elevate culture, processes, and engineering practices across teams. Empower teams through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and tool building.
8. Identify areas in company platforms likely to change and design for flexibility to improve engineering velocity.
9. Develop a long-term technology vision to continually modernize and keep systems relevant in changing environments.
10. Lead engineering support, release, and on-call responsibilities for an "always-on" 24/7 site.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in EE, CS, or related field.
• 10+ years in building large-scale, distributed web platforms/APIs, with 5+ years as an architect/technical lead overseeing end-to-end product scope across multiple domains.
• Experience in creating and executing technical strategies and roadmaps across domains, balancing trade-offs for scalable solutions supporting long-term goals.
• Proven ability to align with key partners on architecture decisions and technical directions through ADRs.
• Experience in adopting technical practices that improve team velocity and code quality.
• Deep knowledge of system design involving GraphQL/REST APIs, messaging systems, RDBMS/NOSQL, containers, infrastructure, with preferable experience in GraphQL.
• Experience leading complex technical initiatives from inception to delivery independently.
