Job summary

Langan, a leading environmental and land development engineering firm, seeks a Senior Staff Environmental Permitting & Compliance Engineer or Scientist to join its Denver team. Responsibilities

  • Prepare environmental permits and compliance programs for air, wastewater, stormwater, waste, spill prevention and storage tanks, EPCRA (Tier II, TRI).
  • Support air projects: emissions calculations, permit preparation, NESHAP/NSPS compliance, annual reporting, emissions monitoring, modeling.
  • Perform multi-media environmental compliance audits, gap assessments, inspections, and program reviews.
  • Develop and support monitoring and SPCC/FRP/SPR/SWPPP/Hazardous Waste plans and contingency programs.
  • Prepare technical documents including reports, plans/programs, permit applications, and other deliverables.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Staff Environmental Permitting & Compliance Engineer or Scientist to join its collaborative team in Denver. This individual will serve a key function in providing performing air quality permitting, industrial wastewater and stormwater permitting, storage tank registration and compliance evaluations, waste management, multi‑media environmental compliance audits, development of monitoring and spill prevention and contingency plans, greenhouse gas emission, sustainability programs and reporting, and report writing. In this role, you will have the opportunity to guide and review the work of staff, permit and plan preparations, and interact with clients and senior management.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare permits and compliance programs for multiple environmental media, including air, wastewater, stormwater, waste, spill prevention and storage tanks, EPCRA (Tier II, TRI);
  • Provide support for air projects, focusing on emissions calculations, permit preparation, NESHAP/NSPS compliance, annual reporting (Title V, GHG, etc.), emissions monitoring, stationary and mobile source air modelling, and other air quality related tasks;
  • Perform multi‑media environmental compliance audits, gap assessments, inspections, and program reviews;
  • Develop and support implementation and management of various monitoring and spill prevention and contingency plans/programs (SPCC, FRP, SPR, SWPPP, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans, TOMP, Slug Control, etc.);
  • Prepare technical documents including reports, plans/programs, permit applications, and other written deliverables;
  • Conduct field support at client sites including routine site inspections, collection of samples, and on‑call support; and
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • BS degree in Environmental, Chemical, other engineering, or science (Master’s degree preferred);
  • 4+ years of experience working with regulations and environmental permitting;
  • Professional certification preferred;
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification;
  • Willingness and ability to identify new client opportunities is strongly desired;
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and other related software (Air Modeling Software, AERMOD, ProMax, a plus);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends; and
  • Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm’s annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.

Pay Range

$76,000—$110,000 USD
