Job description

Position Overview : Our client iscurrently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join theirteam on a temporary basis for one month, with the possibility of extension.

The ideal candidate will have experience in accounts payable, general ledgers, bank reconciliations, and various accounting tasks. This position also involves tax reporting, data analysis, and the use of specialized software.

As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial records and supporting the overall accounting function.

Responsibilities :

Manage accounts payable and act as an A / P treasurer, monitoring and processing payables efficiently.

Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accurate and up-to-date financial information.

Handle the matching of purchase orders, invoices, and receipts for proper recording and reconciliation.

Extract data from Excel files and other sources, perform data analysis, and present insights to support decision-making.

Responsible for monthly tax reporting, including HST / PST filings.

Perform additional accounting-related duties as needed to support the finance team.

Key Duties :

Conduct general ledger reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.

Manage prepaids and ensure proper accounting treatment.

Work with the finance team to perform various general accounting tasks.

Input financial data into QuickBooks Online and other relevant systems.

Utilize 3rd party apps like Book4Time, an ERP-type system, to process financial transactions.

Gather data from various sources for financial analysis and reporting purposes.

Handle cash transactions and maintain proper cash controls.

Qualifications :

Solid knowledge of intermediate accounting principles and practices.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and data analysis.

Previous experience with QuickBooks Online and ability to download and manipulate data.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.

Familiarity with handling cash transactions and basic treasury responsibilities.

Experience with general ledger reconciliations and bank reconciliations.

Previous exposure to matching purchase orders and processing invoices.

Familiarity with ERP-type systems, specifically Book4Time, is a plus.

Ability to generate various financial reports and perform sales tax reporting (HST / PST) on a monthly basis.

Location : The office is conveniently located in the Yonge and Bloor area, easily accessible by subway, making it a convenient commute for candidates within Toronto.

Note : This is a temporary position for one month with a possibility of extension, based on business needs and performance
