Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in senior accounting or financial management roles.

Now Hiring: Senior Staff Accountant / Controller

Location: Corporate Office, Mount Pearl, NL

Type: Full-Time | Immediate Opening

We are currently seeking a Senior Staff Accountant / Controller to join our leadership team. Reporting directly to the President, this role provides strategic oversight and hands-on leadership in Accounting, Payroll, and Financial Reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and presentation of accurate financial reports
  • Oversee profit and loss (P&L) and bank margin reporting
  • Manage monthly and annual Statistics Canada reporting
  • Complete detailed account reconciliations (e.g., bank, intercompany, accruals, prepaids, credit card accounts)
  • Provide oversight and guidance to the payroll function
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts, and perform cash flow analysis
  • Collaborate with external auditors on year-end review engagements
  • Drive accounting projects and initiatives that support business goals

What You Bring:

  • In-depth knowledge of ASPE and GAAP standards
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in multi-divisional and multi-location operations
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Advanced Excel skills (including report-building and analysis)
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Corporate tax knowledge (considered an asset)

Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma or university degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior accounting or financial management role
  • Experience leading and mentoring accounting teams
  • Familiarity with external audit and review processes
  • CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA) is an asset, but not required
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
