CT Bakery is seeking a hands-on Senior Staff Accountant to oversee cost accounting, AP and AR, and to support financial reporting in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will collaborate with operations, lead by example, and help drive process improvements while ensuring accuracy and timeliness of month-end close. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential; experience with QuickBooks Premier and Excel is required.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of accounting experience with hands-on involvement in cost accounting, AP, and AR.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing or food production environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries, such as accruals for expenses.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, intercompany accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
  • Conduct variance analysis to explain significant variances.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely transactions.
  • Assist with audits by providing documentation and explanations.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation and physical counts.
  • Record receipts and clear payments; perform bank reconciliations.
  • Calculate and record broker commissions; prepare detailed reports on commissions for management review.

Job description

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant with strong experience in cost accounting, accounts payable (AP), and accounts receivable (AR). This role is critical to maintaining the financial integrity of the business, ensuring accurate cost and transactional reporting, and supporting continuous process improvement. Primary Responsibilities
General Accounting
  • Prepare and post journal entries, such as accruals for expenses.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, intercompany accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
  • Conduct variance analysis to compare actual results and explaining significant variances.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation and physical inventory counts.
Treasury
  • Record receipts and clear payments.
  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of cash balances.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between bank statements and company records.
  • Credit Card reconciliations.
Broker Commissions
  • Calculate and record broker commissions based on agreements and contracts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of commissions to brokers.
  • Reconcile commission accounts and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Prepare detailed reports on commission payments for management review.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3 – 5 years of accounting experience, with hands-on involvement in cost accounting, AP, and AR.
  • Hands on experience with QuickBooks Premier Accounting Software.
  • Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations).
  • Working Experience in manufacturing or food production environment preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead by example and work independently.
