Position: Senior SQA Test Lead

Employment Type: Contract/ Temporary assignment

Compensation Details :

  • Software Engineer 18 : Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,218 annually, based on qualifications and experiences.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
  • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, or Laval.

  • The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
    • Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
    • Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
    • Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
    • Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
  • The Test Lead is responsible for directing and managing the entire testing lifecycle for one or more complex cross functional projects affecting multiple interfaces and/or applications. The individual in this role will be responsible for leadership in test automation strategy and managing the development and execution of testing deliverables for IT projects.
  • The need for a Test Lead is required to plan the migration of critical credit risk data, automating financial spreading processes, and ensuring seamless integration with numerous existing systems. The Test Lead is required for developing and overseeing test strategies, coordinating test requirements, and providing feedback on feature specifications and design.
  • The Test Lead will ensure that critical testing activities are well-coordinated, risks are mitigated, and the project stays on track to meet its objectives. The Test Lead will ensure that the integration aligns with the organization's architectural principles and standards, enhancing system reliability and performance.
  • The Test Lead will establish standardized procedures and workflows to ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and best practices. This alignment will help achieve high-quality results and gain stakeholder trust. Managing concurrent testing activities for multiple modules will require careful planning and resource allocation.
  • The Test Lead will interface with various project teams to assess testing needs for the project, analyze and interpret test results, establish and review metrics and communicate results and recommendations to a technical and business audience. This role will provide mentorship on testing concepts and implementation, and best practices improvements within the organization.

What you will be doing:

  • Coordinate and devise software testing project deliverables, including test strategy, detailed test plan/approach, test cases, test results summary and defect management tracking and resolution.
  • Coordinate or develop test requirements as required and perform gap analysis between technical design specifications and business requirements.
  • Work with business users to complete User Acceptance testing and support the analysis of any gaps found during the User Acceptance process.
  • Consult with product development team and business analyst to evaluate system interfaces operational requirements, and performance requirements of overall system.
  • Review product design documentation, business requirements and user stories to ensure that requirements stated are correct, unambiguous, and verifiable.
  • Apply risk-based testing to projects and report risk assessment back to Product Owner/Business Analyst/Project Manager, identifying, analyzing, and responding to project risks and improvements as necessary.
  • Work closely with the Product Owners and Project Managers to estimate and plan project testing schedules, workload, and testing resource capacity.
  • Define test methods, create and execute test plans for new or updated software projects to determine if the software will perform accurately and reliably according to documented requirements as well as established standards under both normal and abnormal conditions.
  • Maintain effective communication with the project software developers and business analysts on project limitation, capability, and potential performance impacts.

What we are looking for:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management information systems or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Web Application Testing: Proven track record of testing web applications, including functional, usability, security, and performance testing .
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Test Lead.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Agile.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience testing the backend services (API) and integration points of application.
  • Experience working with external vendors.
  • Experience with Azure Dev Ops, Jira, Service Now or other requirement/defect management tool(s).
  • Advanced knowledge of IT systems development principles and practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

What will make you stand out:

  • Experience in Accessibility Compliance.
  • Experience in using source code management system (GitHub).
  • Experience with Playwright JS.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Knowledge of database management and SQL for testing database applications and verifying data integrity.
  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English).
