Position: Senior SQA Automation Analyst

Employment Type: Contract

  • Software Engineer 18: Salaries range from $94,664 to $126,218 annually, based on qualifications and experiences.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
  • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Brossard, or Laval.

The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:

  • Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
  • Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
  • Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
  • Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Risk and Corporate Platforms Squad within the Digital Strategy and Delivery Excellence group.

The Senior SQA Automation Analyst role is responsible for directing and managing the entire testing lifecycle for one or more complex cross functional projects affecting multiple interfaces and/or applications, as well as providing leadership in the areas of test automation, tools, and processes. In this role, you will be responsible for writing, and executing test scripts, integrating automated tests into the development process, and collaborating closely with the development team to identify and rectify defects. A background in computer science, proficiency in programming languages such as .NET, Python, or C#, and experience with automation testing tools like Selenium or Robot Framework are essential prerequisites for the ideal candidate.

The Senior SQA Automation Analyst will interface with various project teams to assess testing needs for the project, analyze and interpret test results, establish and review metrics and communicate results and recommendations to a technical and business audience. This role will provide mentorship on testing concepts and implementation, best practices and opportunities for test practice improvements within the organization.

What you will be doing:

  • P articipate in software testing project deliverables, including test strategy, detailed test plan/approach, test cases, test results summary and defect management tracking and resolution.
  • Define test automation strategy, considering project and technical constraints.
  • Review product design documentation to ensure that requirements stated are correct, unambiguous, and verifiable.
  • Work closely with the Product Owners and Scrum Masters to estimate and plan project testing schedules, workload, and testing resource capacity.
  • Generate and execute test cases to ensure that all functional requirements of a system are captured during the product design phase.
  • Conduct various levels of testing including but not limited to functional, integration, regression, security and performance testing.
  • Create and execute automated tests.
  • Perform defect reporting and provide product feedback based on customer requirements.
  • Provide team leadership; and train, coach and mentor other members of test teams.

What we are looking for:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management information systems or in a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience developing and maintaining test automation frameworks.
  • Advanced knowledge of software testing principles and methodologies.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience in industry-standard testing tools, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Experience in writing maintainable automated scripts.
  • Strong knowledge of test automation best practices.
  • Experience in testing customized COTS and SaaS applications.
  • Experience using a defect tracking system.

  • Testing experience in Finance and/or Risk Management applications.
  • Experience in Accessibility Compliance.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines.
  • Experience in testing middleware applications.
  • Good understanding of Agile and DevSecOps principles and practices.

  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with clients and team members.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English).
