Our in-house design departments include Architecture, Interior Design and Experiential Graphic Design. In addition, we have a Digital Practice Department, who commits to the implementation of BIM, research + development, and the infusion of cutting-edge technology into our projects and practice.

Who We Are Looking For

As a Senior Specification Writer, you will create technical specifications essential for realizing design intent and ensuring compliance with Codes, By-laws, and technical standards. Collaborating closely with project teams, you will provide crucial support across the project lifecycle. This position requires meticulous attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of CCDC contracts, construction methodologies, building materials, industry standards, and regulations to adeptly fulfill project requirements and objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and ensure compliance with comprehensive technical specifications, aligning with industry standards and project’s design intent.
  • Manage and update the studio-wide Master Specifications to reflect current standards, best practices, and technological advancements through department collaboration.
  • Oversee the integration and use of VisiSpecs to enhance digital specification processes.
  • Conduct detailed research and selection of materials to meet project requirements, focusing on sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Review and analyze submittals, including shop drawings and product data.
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve queries promptly and accurately, ensuring alignment with project specifications and timelines.

What You Will Bring

  • A Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution in Architecture.
  • A current member of Construction Specifications Canada (CSC).
  • 5 - 8 years of progressively responsible roles as a Specification Writer within architecture firms.
  • Strong understanding of current building codes, building construction and details.
  • Proficiency in SpecSimple, VisiSpecs, BlueBeam, Revit and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid role, with 2 days in the Studio.
