Senior Specialist- Supply Chain Operations – Octapharma Canada Inc
Location : Toronto, Canada
Job Type : Full-time, In-house
We are Octapharma Canada
We transform care for people with rare and life-threatening bleeding and immune disorders by keeping an uninterrupted, temperature-controlled stream of life-saving plasma-derived therapies flowing from our European manufacturing sites to Canadian hospitals. Our Supply Chain Operations team is the nerve-centre : we convert national demand signals into precise production plans, orchestrate 2-to-8 °C cold-chain shipments across the Atlantic, and partner with Canadian Blood Services (CBS), Héma-Québec, and a best-in-class 3PL to achieve ≥ 98 % on-time, in-full delivery—no matter the season or border constraint. If you thrive on marrying data analytics with hands-on logistics problem-solving to keep patients supplied, you’ll feel right at home .
You are
- A data-driven supply-chain professional who thrives on turning noisy demand signals into crystal-clear production and shipping plans.
- Deeply versed in cold-chain biologics logistics—air freight, 3PL GDP warehousing, and real-time temperature monitoring are second nature to you.
- Adept at advanced planning systems (SAP ECC / APO) and fluent in inventory analytics that guide commercial, marketing, and medical decisions.
- An agile communicator who can reconcile CBS forecasts on Monday, negotiate freight capacity on Tuesday, investigate a temperature excursion on Wednesday, and still brief executives on Thursday.
- Obsessed with service excellence and stewardship : ≥ 98 % OTIF and 0 % stock write-offs from expiry are non-negotiables in your playbook.
The work
Octapharma Canada imports plasma-derived therapies from Europe into a tightly regulated, temperature-controlled ecosystem. You will sit at the intersection of demand planning, cold-chain logistics, and quality release, translating national sales forecasts into 12, 24, and 36-month production plans while orchestrating every shipment from factory gate to hospital fridge. Success means hitting the CBS KPI scorecard above 98 %, maintaining safety-stock reserves without waste, and feeding real-time utilisation insights back to Commercial so that marketing, medical affairs, and patient programs stay perfectly aligned with supply.
What you will be doing
- Own the 24-month rolling forecast in SAP APO and maintain 1-year and 3-year category / product demand outlooks that feed global capacity planning.
- Translate customer (CBS / Héma-Québec / hospital) forecasts into production plans for European plants; issue monthly production orders and confirm delivery slots.
- Align shipment schedules with customer monthly order cadence to meet service-level expectations while optimising freight cost and inventory cover.
- Sustain ≥ 90 % forecast accuracy and adjust within 48 hours of demand changes.
CBS KPI Program & Customer Alignment
- Achieve ≥ 98 % on every metric in the CBS contractual KPI scorecard (forecast accuracy, OTIF, documentation, exception management).
- Host bi-weekly consensus-forecast reviews with CBS planners and Octapharma HQ; close any data gaps within two working days.
End-to-End Cold-Chain Logistics
- Book and track GDP-qualified, temperature-monitored air freight lanes; maintain annual lane-risk assessments and contingency routes.
- Secure import permits, classify HTS codes, and ensure customs pre-clearance to minimise dwell time at YYZ / YUL.
2. Temperature Integrity & Excursion Management
- Monitor real-time data-loggers; investigate excursions within 24 hours and co-author disposition with QA.
3. 3PL Warehouse & Distribution Oversight
- Manage 3PL SLA—inventory accuracy, pick / pack turnaround, GDP audit readiness—and chair monthly QBRs.
- Plan outbound shipments in the unified workflow platform, ensuring system-to-system data integrity and ≥ 98 % OTIF to CBS depots, hospitals, and specialty pharmacies.
Inventory & Allocation Management
- Maintain in-country safety stock at or above board-approved reserve levels for every SKU; trigger replenishment proactively.
- Run weekly ATP (Available-to-Promise) checks and communicate gaps to Commercial, Medical Affairs, and HQ planners
- Own shelf-life surveillance and FIFO / FEFO rotation to deliver zero stock write-offs from product expiry across all Canadian inventories.
- Collect hospital- and province-level utilisation data for all Octapharma products; reconcile against CBS withdrawals and distributor sales.
- Deliver monthly insight reports to Commercial and Marketing, highlighting regional trends that inform promotional and medical-education plans.
Performance Management & Reporting
- Publish a consolidated dashboard covering : CBS KPI scorecard, shipment-receipt cycle-time, QA release timeliness, safety-stock adherence and utilisation vs. plan.
- Maintain accurate SAP master data and reconcile 3PL inventory with SAP and OctaBI.
- Maintain and present a dashboard covering CBS KPIs, shipment receipt cycle-time, QA-release timeliness, safety-stock adherence, and utilisation growth.
- Lead Lean Six Sigma / Kaizen events to cut lead-time, freight spend, and obsolescence while respecting GMP / GDP.
You will need :
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or Life Sciences.
- 5+ years managing pharmaceutical / biologics cold-chain logistics, international air freight, and 3PL partnerships.
- Advanced user of SAP ECC / APO, OctaBI (or similar BI tool), and MS Office; working knowledge of unified workflow or TMS platforms.
- Strong grasp of GDP, GUI-0069, Health Canada import requirements, and electronic QMS interfaces for QA release.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent continuous-improvement credential (asset).
Skills & Attributes
- Data-driven planner who seamlessly converts forecasts into executable production and shipping schedules.
- Cool-headed troubleshooter—customs holds, weather disruptions, and temperature alarms don’t rattle you.
- Persuasive communicator who can explain KPI performance and utilisation trends to executives and cross-functional teams.
- Passion for accuracy, accountability, and patient-first thinking.
What we offer
- Mentorship and a clear career path in a growing Canadian organisation.
- High autonomy to experiment with innovative cold-chain solutions.
- A collaborative, inclusive culture that rewards initiative and continuous improvement.
