The Senior Specialist is responsible for assisting the Manager and other team members in delivering the operational goals for the Prevention team. Most notably, the Senior Specialist will be integral in advancing preventive care and chronic disease initiatives in Ontario. To be successful, the Senior Specialist must have expertise and experience in scanning and assessing large bodies of evidence (including academic and grey literature), and synthesizing findings into system-level recommendations in reports, briefing notes, presentations, and other products. Additionally, the Senior Specialist will require strong project management expertise, and will be the main point of contact for multiple stakeholders.
The Senior Specialist will work closely with the Manager and other team members to help plan and deliver evidence-based initiatives to address chronic disease prevention. This may include initiatives such as a digital prevention and screening resource hub, diabetes initiatives, clinical supports in Primary Care Networks, and other initiatives as opportunities arise. The ideal candidate will have a passion for chronic disease prevention and population health, and will be knowledgeable about policies, programs and health system factors related to chronic disease risk factors.
The Senior Specialist will be part of the Population Health and Prevention unit that monitors population-level prevention policies, oversees provincial programs, and generates high-quality information and tools for reducing risk factors for cancer and other chronic diseases.
