The Senior Specialist, Casualty Large Complex & Specialty Claims is responsible for the end-to-end management of casualty claims, including complex specialty losses and those involving multinational exposure. The role requires close collaboration with underwriting, reinsurance, actuarial, and senior leadership to develop and execute effective claim strategies that drive optimal outcomes. In addition, this position supports the advancement of claims capabilities to facilitate growth in emerging markets and specialty lines, while contributing to organizational excellence through mentorship and the provision of technical expertise.
Manage a portfolio of complex casualty claims throughout the full lifecycle, including matters involving coverage concerns and emerging or novel issues.
Collaborate effectively with key stakeholders, including underwriting, reinsurance, actuarial, and senior leadership, to support strategic claim management.
Demonstrate advanced technical expertise and thought leadership across all aspects of claims handling, including coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation, litigation management, and expert coordination.
Provide mentorship and contribute to the technical development of team members through structured guidance and active participation in claims committees and roundtable forums.
Contribute to the transformation and continuous improvement of claims capabilities to support growth in new markets and specialty lines of business.
University degree in any discipline, a two-year college diploma from a provincially recognized and funded institution, or a fully completed Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
A minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive claims handling experience, with demonstrated expertise in high value / complex casualty claims management.
Experience managing Environmental, Abuse, Construction, Coverage B, Class Actions, Marine, and National Accounts with specialized service agreements is considered a strong asset.
Salary Range:$73,500 - $123,500
Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market.
