B2Gold is seeking a Fuel Management Specialist for a fly-in-fly-out position in Nunavut. The role involves overseeing fuel handling, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Position
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Senior Specialist, Fuel Management, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and offloading of fuel from barges to tanks, and oversee preparations for ice road fuel deliveries, ensuring readiness of fleet, fuel facilities, and equipment;
• Monitor inventory levels across all locations, ensuring adequate stock using correct formulas for stock calculation relevant to ambient environment conditions. Conduct daily balance checks and distribute reports to relevant parties;
• Develop and maintain comprehensive records of fuel deliveries, daily stock balances, discrepancies in product quantities and quality, and usage by different equipment types. Conduct investigations into discrepancies and anomalies;
• Schedule and ensure regular collection of fuel samples from receipt sources and bulk storage tanks, arranging testing with onsite and offsite labs to control fuel quality;
• Implement and manage the Fuel Management System, customizing reports with contractors, and utilizing the ERP system to instruct and train employees;
• Collaborate with HSE and ERT to implement efficient safety measures for fire accidents and other emergencies;
• Interpret and apply relevant laws, codes, regulations, and standards in fuel management;
• Create and implement policies and procedures to ensure smooth and efficient operations of the fuel depot; Supervise, train, and monitor fuel attendants, conducting performance reviews and maintaining effective communication;
• Verify that product certifications are valid and properly maintained;
• Ensure storage and dispensing facilities are operational, scheduling regular safety and technical inspections. Report any issues to the maintenance department and implement daily housekeeping practices; and
• Adhere to all B2Gold Nunavut’s policies, departmental rules, and procedures related to fuel management.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
• Five (5) years’ experience in fuel coordination in an Arctic environment is required;
• Diploma in Engineering, or a related field;
• Comprehensive understanding of laws, codes, regulations, and standards relevant to fuel management; Possession of a valid Driver’s License; and
• Proficiency in using Fuel Management Systems and ERP software; strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $99,216.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $36 and overtime rate of $54) in a work year.
