Overview

Offering you the opportunity to perform your responsibilities within the parameters of our flexible work model, you will be exposed to excellent growth and development opportunities. As a Senior Specialist, DB Administration reporting to the team manager, you will perform a wide range of day-to-day and cyclical defined benefit plan administration services and provide ad hoc client support in our annuity administration business, while also supporting junior team members. In this exciting and dynamic role, you will have the opportunity to manage projects and use your superior analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. How you'll make an impact

  • Oversee and contribute to day-to-day work and projects to ensure timely and accurate delivery
  • Consistently deliver accurate, complete, and superior quality work
  • Oversee processes within a specified functional area
  • Back up and support other team members as required
  • Perform quality review of work prepared by other team members
  • Participate and assist in/with client meetings
  • Communicate with client on regular basis
  • Understand the client’s perspective and priorities
  • Produce complex and/or ad hoc reports
  • Act as a source of expertise to others
  • Work collaboratively and productively to monitor, troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise
  • Act as a role model for junior team members regarding service delivery and professional behaviour
  • Arrange and conduct information-sharing sessions with team, coaching team members to enhance their knowledge
  • Ensure all administration documents are up-to-date and meet quality standards
  • Understand and support the interrelationship of data, systems, member and client experience
  • Handle member and client inquiries and/or respond to escalations
  • Create networks outside of one’s own functional area
  • Troubleshoot application and data issues
  • Review specifications, test plans, and perform system user acceptance testing as required
  • Work with business partners to apply appropriate solutions to complex issues

About you

  • Bilingual English / French is an asset
  • Post-secondary education and related courses in mathematics (actuarial science/mathematics) and/or related work experience
  • Successful completion of Society of Actuaries’ exams (ASA designation is an asset)
  • PPAC or CEBS designation is an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in defined benefit pension plan administration
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel functions used in data analysis
  • Proficient in other MS Office applications and essential computer functions
  • Strong critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving skills
  • Strong working knowledge of defined benefit pension plan administration, policy and applicable multi-provincial and federal government legislation.
  • Ability to deliver on time and with quality in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
