About the Role

Covalent is looking for a Senior Real-Time API Engineer to help us scale our real‑time backbone to tens of thousands of users with sub‑second latency. You’ll bring your 5 + years of experience with low‑latency systems languages, modern messaging platforms, and container orchestration for the TradFi or other industries.

What You Will Do

• Build and scale our real-time data service for high client volumes and sub-second latency.

• Normalize multiple market and on-chain sources; deliver unified tick streams.

• Optimize connection management (rate limits, replay/catch-up, multi-region resilience).

• Publish/maintain developer SDKs; set reliability targets and run post-incident reviews.

• Partner with DevOps on cloud and edge delivery.

• Lead design/code reviews and ship high-quality, secure, scalable software.

What You Will Need

• 5+ years building real-time APIs and event-driven systems.

• Strong grasp of modern networking, transport security, and load-balancing.

• Proficiency in at least one systems language and a modern runtime; solid async fundamentals.

• Experience with high-performance messaging/pub-sub and container orchestration in production.

• Strong SQL, API design, and data-modeling skills; performance engineering mindset.

• Degree in CS or related field (or equivalent experience); clear communicator and collaborator.

• Familiarity with blockchain transaction lifecycles, token standards, EVM concepts, and integrating market-data across asset classes.

What We Offer

The expected salary range for Canadian applicants for similar roles within Covalent is CAD 125,000 to CAD 175,000, as well as extended health and dental care, life insurance, performance incentives, and education support.
