Job summary

Veeva Ostro is seeking a Backend Engineer to design and deliver scalable backend services powering our SaaS platform. You will balance rapid delivery with long-term code health, championing clean architecture, rigorous testing, and low technical debt.

What You'll Do

As a Backend Engineer, you will design and deliver scalable backend services that power Veeva Ostro’s SaaS platform. In this role, you’ll balance high-velocity delivery with long-term code health, building impactful features while championing clean architecture, rigorous testing, and low technical debt.

• Architect and scale high-performance APIs for Veeva Ostro’s SaaS platform
• Partner cross-functionally to design and ship new features
• Provide technical feedback on product roadmaps and feature scoping
• Champion quality through peer reviews, unit testing, and clean architecture
• Optimize application and database performance to handle growth
• Evaluate emerging backend technologies to improve engineering practices
• Troubleshoot and resolve live system issues to maximize uptime

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience shipping production code for B2B or B2C SaaS products
• 5+ years of deep expertise in Python and frameworks like Django
• Strong proficiency with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
• Excellent communication and cross-functional teamwork skills

Compensation

• Base pay: $130,000 - $225,000 CAD
• The salary range listed here has been provided to comply with local regulations and represents a potential base salary range for this role. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range above or below, depending on experience and location. We look at compensation for each individual and base our offer based on your unique qualifications, experience, and expected contributions. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation in addition to base salary, such as variable bonus and/or stock bonus.
