Okta Identity Governance (OIG) is seeking a Senior Engineer to join our team. You will design, build, and maintain features across the OIG system, focusing on correctness, reliability, and performance for enterprise customers.

The role involves end-to-end ownership from technical design to deployment, collaboration with product, QA, and SRE to deliver scalable, secure identity governance solutions used by thousands of users.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with ownership of complex features.
• Experience designing enterprise-grade systems with reliability and security.
• Strong collaboration across product, design, and QA teams.

Job description

• Okta Identity Governance (OIG) organization is looking for a Senior Engineer to join our team — OIG is Okta’s Identity Governance and Administration solution that is directly responsible for one of the most critical and visible workflows in enterprise identity: how employees request, approve, and gain access to the resources they need
• As a Senior Engineer on the OIG team, you will be involved into development, design, and maintenance of our product to serve enterprise customers at scale
• You will involve the architecture and evolution of our product features — spanning the across different access governance personas — and work collaboratively across engineering, product, and design to deliver features that are secure, scalable, and delightful to use

• Take end-to-end ownership of feature areas — from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch monitoring

• Strong proficiency in one or more of: Java, Kotlin, Go, or equivalent JVM/cloud-native languages used in Okta’s backend stack
• Demonstrated ability to influence without authority — driving technical alignment across multiple teams and stakeholders
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a demonstrated ability to independently own and deliver complex features in a production environment
• Experience designing systems that meet enterprise reliability, scalability, and security requirements (think: multi-tenancy, high availability, audit logging, RBAC/ABAC)
• Deep expertise in microservices, event-driven architectures, APIs, and data modeling at scale
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make complex technical topics accessible to both engineers and non-engineers
• Proven track record of architecting and delivering large-scale, distributed systems in production environments serving enterprise customers
• B.S. Computer Science or equivalent
• Familiarity with workflow engines or approval/routing systems (e.g., finite state machines, BPM-style systems)
• Experience building identity, access management, or governance (IAM/IGA) products or platforms
• Experience with enterprise SaaS platforms serving large, complex customer organizations
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern observability tooling
