You will collaborate with other experienced engineers to improve existing systems and ensure long‑term operational stability.

This role is based out of ARC’TERYX headquarters in North Vancouver, BC. We offer a hybrid or remote work option; remote candidates must be committed to Pacific time zone hours. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Meet Your Future Team

The technology team builds the backbone for arcteryx.com websites. We work with cross‑functional agile squads to roll out new features, improve performance, and build self‑serve tools for business stakeholders to create an amazing online experience for our guests.

Core Responsibilities
  • Direct the development direction and technical health of a medium‑sized product area comprising a collection of features.
  • Become a subject‑matter expert of your specific product business domain.
  • Understand systems deeply, enabling efficient and effective debugging.
  • Demonstrate at least one major skill outside of programming such as devops, performance optimization, monitoring, or visual design.
  • Help mentor and raise the technical bar of other team members.
  • Produce technical documentation for existing parts of the system and propose refactorings.
  • Participate extensively in code reviews, mentoring others via code reviews and pairing.
  • Execute performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, and automation.
  • Contribute to common code bases and define standards for the team.
  • Present at team meetings for knowledge sharing.
  • Own technical design for projects of moderate complexity and understand trade‑offs in building good software.
  • Require very little oversight beyond high‑level direction; take complex user stories, break them into sub‑tasks, and complete them with ease.
  • Show initiative beyond completing tasks; identify and suggest areas of future work for yourself or the team.
  • Seek evidence to support ideas and build cases for them.
  • Work effectively with non‑tech members of your area; identify problems with requirements and help the team course‑correct.
  • Align with ARC’TERYX leadership practices and culture in daily work.
Future Work
  • Coaching and mentoring other software engineers.
  • Building and delivering maintainable, high‑quality software for a best‑in‑class e‑commerce experience.

  • Contributing to the software architecture of new products.
  • Improving tests and overall application quality.
  • Defining clear contracts between systems and maintaining integration.
  • Setting up non‑regression detection systems with SLA.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with full‑stack development in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Polyglot programming language skills, excelling in one or two languages.
  • Extensive knowledge of programming best practices.
  • Proficient in TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Expert in React Native; comfortable with Swift/Kotlin and mobile‑only challenges.
  • Experience working with transactional and NoSQL databases.
  • Proficient in writing and maintaining automated user tests and unit tests.

  • Experience integrating with third‑party APIs, OAuth 2.0, and headless solutions.
  • Experience with cloud computing providers, container solutions, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of microservices concepts and architecture.
  • Experience with CDN, web servers, load‑balancer configuration and management.
  • Great communication, problem‑solving, and documentation skills.
  • Proactive in identifying root causes of issues and developing solutions.
  • Highly flexible and adaptable in ambiguous situations.
  • Passion for work parallel to passion for outdoor adventure.
