Job Overview:

Lantern is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our healthcare technology team as a core member of the architecture team. In this role, you will leverage your deep understanding of software testing principles, automation strategies, and quality engineering to design and implement robust, scalable testing frameworks for backend services, web applications, and mobile apps. You will collaborate with architects and engineering leaders to define and uphold best practices in test automation, drive the adoption of modern testing tools and methodologies, and ensure comprehensive test coverage across all layers of our platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust automated testing frameworks for backend services, web applications, and mobile apps in a healthcare domain.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, product managers, and compliance teams to ensure testability, quality, and regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA) across all software components.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, plans, and cases for functional, integration, regression, performance, and security testing.
  • Implement and maintain automated API, UI, and backend tests using Java, Selenium, and API testing tools.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Azure Cloud, GitHub Actions, and related DevOps tools.
  • Analyze test results, identify root causes, and work closely with engineering teams to resolve defects efficiently.
  • Mentor and guide other SDETs and QA engineers on best practices, advanced testing concepts, and automation strategies.
  • Stay current with healthcare technology trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging testing tools and methodologies.
  • Champion a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and technical excellence within the team.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software testing and automation, with significant exposure to the healthcare domain.
  • Strong programming skills in Java (C# or Python is a plus).
  • Hands-on experience with Selenium, API testing tools (e.g., Postman, RestAssured), and backend test automation.
  • Experience with Azure Cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, and GitHub for version control and automation.
  • Solid understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, HL7, FHIR).
  • Proven ability to design and implement scalable, maintainable, and reliable test automation frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding other engineers in testing best practices.
  • Knowledge of performance and security testing in regulated environments is highly desirable.

Strong Candidates will have:

  • Experience automating QA for backend, web, and mobile platforms using Java, Selenium, and API testing frameworks.
  • Expertise in healthcare data, particularly with standards like HL7 and FHIR, and ensuring compliance and accurate validation in healthcare data automation.
