Coinbase is seeking experienced backend engineers to develop the next generation of crypto-forward products. You will solve large-scale, complex technical problems, bridging web-scale applications and blockchain constraints. You will help build systems that make cryptocurrency accessible globally, operating real-time, low-latency applications with secure, cloud-based infrastructure.

The Institutional Product Group supports Coinbase's institutional business, enabling custody of digital assets for large financial institutions. We build scalable, secure crypto platforms supporting hundreds of assets, with features like staking, governance, and web3 gateways. The team works on cutting-edge crypto technologies, scalable infrastructure, and UI across web, mobile, and browser extensions, offering opportunities to innovate in a fast-paced industry.

What you'll be doing:

• Develop new services using Golang to meet product and business needs.
• Design scalable systems with modern cloud technology and best practices.
• Define long-term strategies for maintaining and scaling backend systems and teams.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and leadership to create quarterly roadmaps.
• Write high-quality, tested code to serve customer needs.

What we look for in you:

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable production services with service-oriented architecture.
• Ability to write high-quality, tested code for customers.
• Passion for building an open financial system that unites the world.

Nice to haves:

• Experience with rapid company growth (startup to mid-size).
• Experience with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks.
• Knowledge of Blockchain technology (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.).
• Experience decomposing monoliths into microservices.
• Proficiency with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
• Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security systems.
• Crypto-forward experience, including onchain activity, ENS, dApps, or blockchain services.
