Senior Software Engineer, Backend (CI / CD)

Join Affirm as a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (CI / CD) and help reinvent credit to make it more honest and friendly, offering consumers flexible buy now, pay later options without hidden fees or interest.

Our Developer Productivity team aims to improve the work environment for every engineer at Affirm by streamlining software development processes, including CI/CD pipelines, test automation, dependency management, and release engineering. Supporting over 900 engineers in a hypergrowth Fintech environment, we enable rapid, safe, and confident code deployment.

What You'll Do

1. Own and deliver quarterly goals, guide engineers through ambiguity, and support team members throughout project delivery.
2. Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams during the product development lifecycle, including ideation and technical decision-making.
3. Identify and advocate for resolving project, process, technology, or business issues.
4. Support team operations by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and maintaining system availability.
5. Promote a culture of quality and ownership through setting standards for code review and design, and sharing knowledge via writing and tech talks.
6. Develop talent by providing feedback, guidance, and leading by example.

What We Look For

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale with languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Proven experience with highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with infrastructure components like CI pipelines, configuration management, and automation.
• Ability to define technical plans for significant features with elegant, simple, and extensible designs.
• Strong coding skills with a focus on high-quality, understandable, and reusable code.
• Proficiency in making substantial changes safely in large codebases and developing supporting tools and practices.
• Ownership mindset with proactive feedback seeking and growth management.
• Effective communication skills for collaboration within a global team.
• Either equivalent practical experience or a related Bachelor's degree.

Base salary range: $150,000 - $200,000 per year
