Job description

WHAT IMPACT CAN A SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER HAVE AT ESG?

At East Side Games, we all band together to deliver a world-class gameplay experience for our players around the globe. Everyone has an impact here. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be hands-on with our systems, tools, and features to build player-first, world-class mobile titles for millions of players globally. You’ll be working on our globally live LiveOps titles, where you’ll solve complex problems across the entire stack, raising the technical bar for idle games. You will mentor, coach, and work closely with our junior engineers. We want you to be as committed to making memorable player experiences as we are. We’re a remote-first studio and encourage all applications.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Develop and implement complex systems, game enhancements, features, and bug fixes for our LiveOps titles.
  • Be hands-on, developing solutions for our engineering goals head-on through the implementation of high quality, well-structured and documented code.
  • Design and implement systems and architecture for the game and any future projects!
  • Contribute to the project’s technical vision, plan and own technical specifications, and have accountability for your work from development to production.
  • Refine and prioritize technical tasks and debt on the project.
  • Collaborate closely with our Designers and Artists and provide improvements to our processes, workflows, and tools.
  • Maintain and innovate our existing tools for content creation, adding new functionalities and improving the engineering workflows.
  • Mentor, coach, and work closely with our junior engineers, and reviewing code.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • 5+ years experience building high quality production software systems. This includes writing code and contributing to the building/development of products, setting the code standards, and defining the code architecture.
  • Experience in C# and Unity.
  • Experience working on F2P, freemium, or live games is a HUGE plus.
  • Experience with backend systems is a plus, particularly experience integrating and/or creating REST APIs.
  • A shipped mobile title or personal gaming projects you’re proud of building.
  • An understanding of professional software engineering best practices, agile development, code reviews, source control management, build processes, and testing.
  • Strategic time management skills and a commitment to executing tasks to completion.
  • Accessible communication skills, both written and orally.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding other engineers on a team.

Compensation Range: $115K-$130K CAD per annum. Salary is determined by experience, skills, and capabilities.
