Senior Software Engineer

THE POSITION

Helcim is searching for a Senior Software Engineer to develop the next generation of payments technology. The Senior Engineer will build high‑quality software solutions, mentor junior developers, and collaborate across data, product, devops, and design teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, maintain, and secure scalable, high‑performance APIs for internal and external services using PHP Laravel.
• Build event‑driven systems in PHP and Go, and productionize machine learning models with the Data team.
• Coach and mentor junior developers, providing guidance, support, and feedback.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with data, product, devops, stakeholders, and design teams.
• Implement continuous integration and deployment pipelines through GitLab to increase automation.
• Identify and implement improvements to development processes and engineering standards.
• Discover insights through the BigQuery Data Warehouse.
• Deploy and maintain projects on AWS or Google Cloud Platform.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor’s or bootcamp degree in computer programming, computer science, or related field.
• Strong system design experience for backend services, including caching strategies, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
• Proven ability to optimize SQL queries and large‑scale data workflows for high transaction volumes.
• Experience with cloud‑native databases, BigQuery, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, or similar containerization technologies.
