Position Summary:

Join one of biotech's most successful companies to create world-class software with the best and brightest in the industry. Illumina is looking for talented, motivated software engineers to join the software team. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams that are ultimately responsible to expand and enhance our genome sequencing and array platforms.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Work as part of Agile scrum teams to design, implement, and test the instrument control software that powers our industry-leading DNA sequencing and genotyping devices.
2. Deliver software architecture, designs, and implementations.
3. Participate in all aspects of our agile development process, from sprint planning to daily scrum meetings and sprint demos.
4. Create and execute unit tests to verify functionality.
5. Troubleshoot and resolve software defects.
6. Contribute to software design reviews and code reviews.
7. Coach and mentor junior software engineers.

Position Requirements:

1. Demonstrated strong ability to design, develop, and maintain object-oriented multi-threaded .NET applications.
2. Able to write robust code that meets product requirements while being lean, maintainable, unit tested, and easy to understand.
3. Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
4. Self-starter mentality with excellent communication skills.
5. Ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
6. Passion for technology.
7. Extensive experience writing high quality unit tests against mock objects.
8. Proficient with source control management repositories (GIT, SVN).
9. Experience in CI/CD.
10. Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
11. Must thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environment.
12. Experience in participating in cross-organizational or inter-company collaboration.

Preferred Experience/Education/Skills:

1. Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
2. Experience in an object-oriented programming language; C# preferred.
3. Experience in developing instrument software/hardware integration is a plus.
4. Experience in biotech and bioinformatics is a plus.
5. Experience in image processing is a plus.
