Amazon Aurora is a distributed, fault-tolerant database service, built with a self-healing storage system. Aurora provides unparalleled high-performance and availability at global scale with full MySQL and PostgreSQL compatibility, at 1/10th the cost of commercial databases. As an SDE III on Aurora Availability team, you will design and implement software components and enhance existing components to help us continuously improve and evolve to meet growing availability demands from our customers.
We are looking for experienced Software Development Engineers with a proven track record of designing and implementing highly scalable, fault-tolerant and resilient systems & tooling. You have strong technical skills, are motivated and results-oriented. You are passionate about engineering robust systems, and know how to make the right trade-offs to continue growing quickly to meet our customers' demands. You have a continuous learning and growth mindset and relish investigating and solving hard technical challenges. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and adept at writing technical documents. You are empathetic and curious, and naturally amplify the positive & inclusive team culture we, as a team, work hard to build.
Our team values work-life balance. Most days, our entire team is co-located in the Vancouver offices, but we support occasional work from home if needed.

Key job responsibilities
Delivering software features and improvements to major portions of your team’s software.
Working with customers, stakeholders, and peers in order to understand and deliver the right solutions.
Designing software solutions to enable new features or improve existing ones.
Writing technical documentation to describe existing software design and/or propose new solutions.
Operational work to solve customer problems and enhance your team's operations.
Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including scoping, design, code, code reviews, testing, deployment and maintenance of the team's software.
