Job description

Safe Software is looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our Form team. As a Senior Software Developer, you will drive scalable, maintainable solutions; shape cross-team architecture and practices; and coach and empower other developers. We have an immediate opening and are excited to find the right candidate to join our team.

About The Team

As part of the FME Form product group, you’ll join a group of collaborative development teams composed of team leaders, developers, quality analysts, and student interns who work together as a team and alongside product managers and user experience designers, on complex technical projects that provide direct value to our users.

As a part of this close-knit and diverse team, you will work together with internal stakeholders to maintain and extend our flagship FME Form products that delight customers and empower them to author dataflows that can be shared, reused, and integrated with the FME Platform.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Software Developer, you will:

  • Architect and guide the implementation of complex, high-impact product features and systems
  • Lead cross-team technical initiatives, collaborating across departments to align on solutions and priorities
  • Mentor and coach developers across all levels, promoting skill development and knowledge sharing
  • Champion best practices in software architecture, testing, security, and performance
  • Identify and lead efforts to address technical debt, system reliability, and process improvements
  • Represent technical perspectives in product planning, working closely with Product Management and UX
  • Provide expert input during code and design reviews, ensuring high quality and maintainability
  • Contribute to the evolution of Safe’s development culture, standards, and tooling strategy
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience: 7+ years of professional software development experience, including technical leadership of complex projects and systems
  • Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in C++ for core system development; strong Python skills specifically for automation and scripting; expert-level architectural design, debugging, and optimization within large-scale distributed systems.
  • Influential communicator and mentor; able to align teams, foster collaboration, and lead through change
  • Strategic thinker with a systems-level perspective; proactive in identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement; skilled at balancing technical depth with business context

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with Safe Software’s core technology areas or similar technical domains.
  • Experience with different operating systems (e.g. MacOS, Linux).
  • Experience with A.I. Coding Agents. (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot)
  • Experience building desktop applications using the Qt Framework, specifically focusing on Qt Widgets.
