Job summary

Metrolinx is seeking a Senior Software Developer, Engineering Platform (Mobile) to design, build, and support scalable mobile applications using Flutter, Dart, and native technologies. You will combine hands-on development with technical leadership to deliver user-centric digital experiences.

You will mentor developers, drive solution design, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure quality, security, and timely delivery of mobile solutions across platforms.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in mobile development with leadership roles.
• Production-ready Flutter/Dart mobile apps.

• Design, develop, test, and implement mobile applications using Flutter (must) and native development technologies
• Lead technical analysis, solution design, coding, and deployment of scalable mobile solutions

We are seeking a Senior Software Developer, Engineering Platform (Mobile) to design, build, and support scalable mobile applications using Flutter, native mobile technologies, Agile practices, and cloud-based platforms. The role combines hands‑on development with technical leadership to deliver reliable and user‑centric digital experiences.

The successful candidate will be a hands‑on technical leader responsible for developing high‑quality mobile applications, driving solution design, mentoring developers, and delivering user‑centric solutions.

What will I be doing?

• Design, develop, test, and implement mobile applications using modern mobile architectures, Flutter (must), and native development technologies

• Lead technical analysis, solution design, coding, and deployment of scalable cross-platform mobile solutions

• Define and document technical specifications, application designs, and development standards

• Lead code reviews, quality assurance, troubleshooting, and application support activities and ensure solution quality, performance, security

• Apply Agile (Scrum/Kanban) practices throughout the software development lifecycle

• Manage vendor deliverables and ensure technical compliance with project timelines and quality expectations

• Build strong relationships through effective communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

Education & Experience

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Demonstrated years of experience in mobile development, including technical leadership roles.

Technical Skills

• Demonstrated Experience in mobile application development experience using Flutter and Dart (including native development), building and shipping production cross-platform applications
• Demonstrated Experience in experience integrating RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs, third-party SDKs, push notifications, and authentication services within mobile applications
• Knowledge of mobile architecture patterns, state management frameworks, and local data persistence solutions within Flutter applications.
• Experience in implementing CI/CD pipelines for mobile and a good understanding of DevOps processes (GitHub Actions)
• Skilled in Agile Software Development process.
