Job summary

Dialogue is Canada’s leading virtual care provider delivering health programs to organizations and families. The Senior Software Developer, Backend will enable nearly 3 million members to access health services via our Canadian platform.

Role focuses on building and operating mission-critical API services, refining design, and collaborating with product managers. Hybrid work includes Montreal or Toronto offices; remote roles are excluded.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with distributed systems, API design, relational modeling, or DB administration.
• Track record of architecting, organizing, and shipping significant software initiatives.
• Ability to reason about data structures and algorithms to build robust, scalable systems.
• Experience with Python, databases, and cloud infrastructure is required.

Responsibilities

• Build, improve, and operate mission-critical applications and API services as part of the Client Experience team.
• Collaborate with the product manager to prioritize work by business value.
• Draft and review technical design documents to align the team on solutions.
• Write clean, testable code and maintainable test suites while setting a good example.
• Mentor other developers through code reviews and documentation.

Your role asSenior Software Developer, Backend

Reporting Malik Lewis, Manager, Software Developer the mission of the Senior Software Developer, Backend is to enable close to 3 million members to improve their health in a simple and effective way through the Canadian virtual care platform, Dialogue.

What you'll be doing

• Building, improving, and operating mission-critical applications and API services as part of the Client Experience team;
• Identifying, refining, and prioritizing work items by business value in collaboration with the product manager;
• Writing and participating in the elaboration of technical design documents to align the team on clear solutions;
• Writing accurate, readable, testable code and maintainable test suites which set a good example for other developers;
• Improving the skills and effectiveness of other developers through code review, documentation, and direct guidance;

We'd love to hear from you if you have

• 5 or more years of experience with distributed systems, API design, relational modeling, or DB administration.
• A track record of architecting, organizing, and shipping significant software initiatives.
• You reason about data structures and algorithms, and you apply them in order to build robust, scalable systems.
• You break down systems and product development work into incremental changes and consistently deliver value.
• You communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues, in a variety of contexts.
• Experience with Python, databases, and cloud infrastructure is required.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL and AWS services is an asset.
• Any level of experience with web application development, particularly with React, is an asset.
