Socket.dev in Canada is seeking a Senior Software Developer, Backend to enable close to 3 million members to improve their health through the Dialogue platform. You will build, scale, and operate mission-critical API services as part of the Client Experience team.

You will collaborate with product managers, design robust data models, and write clean, tested code in Python, PostgreSQL, and AWS. The role offers hybrid work with 3 days in Montreal or Toronto offices and generous benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with distributed systems, API design, relational modeling, or DB administration.
• Track record of architecting and shipping significant software initiatives.
• Ability to reason about data structures and algorithms for robust, scalable systems.
• Ability to break down work into incremental changes and deliver value.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Python, databases, and cloud infrastructure is required.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL and AWS is an asset.
• Experience with React is an asset.

Reporting Malik Lewis, Manager, Software Developer the mission of the Senior Software Developer, Backend is to enable close to 3 million members to improve their health in a simple and effective way through the Canadian virtual care platform, Dialogue.

What you'll be doing

• Building, improving, and operating mission-critical applications and API services as part of the Client Experience team;
• Identifying, refining, and prioritizing work items by business value in collaboration with the product manager;
• Writing and participating in the elaboration of technical design documents to align the team on clear solutions;
• Writing accurate, readable, testable code and maintainable test suites which set a good example for other developers;
• Improving the skills and effectiveness of other developers through code review, documentation, and direct guidance;

We'd love to hear from you if you have

• 5 or more years of experience with distributed systems, API design, relational modeling, or DB administration.
• A track record of architecting, organizing, and shipping significant software initiatives.
• You reason about data structures and algorithms, and you apply them in order to build robust, scalable systems.
• You break down systems and product development work into incremental changes and consistently deliver value.
• You communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues, in a variety of contexts.
• Experience with Python, databases, and cloud infrastructure is required.
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL and AWS services is an asset.
• Any level of experience with web application development, particularly with React, is an asset.
