Working and living in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, the Senior Software Developer plays a crucial role in designing and developing large-scale business applications and integrations for the Government of Northwest Territories (GNWT). Reporting to the Manager, Development Services, you will manage complex software development projects and assignments that directly impact all GNWT departments, boards, and agencies. Your expertise will ensure that solutions meet business requirements while mitigating significant organizational risks. You will have the opportunity to influence stakeholders at various levels, utilizing your understanding of user needs to deliver value and enhance service effectiveness through technology.

The ideal candidate will possess expert knowledge of software development methodologies and practices, along with a solid understanding of project management practices. Proficiency in modern programming languages and tools is essential, as is the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Typically, these skills and expert knowledge are acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in computer science, with 3 years of relevant experience as a programmer developing software components and integrations; or equivalencies can include:

1. Completion of a diploma in computer science, with 5 years of relevant experience as a programmer developing software components and integrations.
2. Eleven (11) years of relevant experience as a programmer developing software components and integrations.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is from $59.62 per hour to $71.22 per hour (approximately $116,259 - $138,879) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
