Job summary

Improving Vancouver is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our data and cloud team. You will own designs, drive SDLC from design to release, mentor teammates, and collaborate with clients to gather requirements and deliver high-quality software.

You will work on Java and/or C++ projects, participate in code reviews, write tests, and help grow our engineering practices while fostering an inclusive, growth-oriented culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience with programming object-oriented Java and/or C++.
• Excited to learn and solve challenging technology problems.
• An ability to present and discuss ideas in a collaborative way.
• Development experience on Windows and macOS; Linux a plus.

As a Senior Software Developer you'll be given autonomy and trust to:

• Scope and author designs, then drive development through SDLC to final release

Technical Acumen Responsibilities

• Lead designs with minimal guidance
• Actively participate in code reviews and be a gatekeeper to high code standards
• Write complete and correct tests including setting up test frameworks as needed
• Write code that is maintainable, readable, testable, and documented
• Live out high programming, leadership and customer service standards

Delivery & Execution

• Ability to operate independently to efficiently deliver results.
• Gather specifications from clients, scoping work to reflect client demands and ensure clear expectations
• Own the success of your project by prioritizing and managing schedules, as well as delegating tasks and seeking help from others
• Accurately plan and estimate projects according to specifications
• Foster highly productive collaboration within your team

Qualifications
