Job summary

Cognition+ is seeking a Senior Software Developer to design and build cutting-edge enterprise insurance software solutions. You will drive architectural decisions, mentor developers, and deliver high-quality code in a fast-paced environment from our London, Ontario office or remotely within Canada.

The role offers a total compensation range of CAD 85,000–135,000 with a performance-based bonus, plus benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years in Java enterprise application development.
• Ability to lead technical projects and mentor junior developers.
• Passion for clean code and unit/integration tests.
• Knowledge of web frontend: JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, HTML, CSS.
• Strong Git, Maven, Spring and Docker; solid SQL background.
• Experience with Linux; Agile (Kanban) practices.
• Familiarity with MyBatis, ActiveMQ, WildFly, Alfresco Content Services, Solr, Redis, Jaspersoft, Selenium, Jenkins, and PL/SQL.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Senior Software Developer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll design and develop cutting-edge enterprise insurance software solutions, drive key architectural decisions, and mentor a talented group of developers. If you're passionate about solving complex challenges, writing clean and efficient code, and working on impactful projects in a fast-paced, innovative environment – this is the place for you!

Total expected annual compensation of $85,000 – $135,000, inclusive of base salary and a performance-based bonus tied to individual, team, and corporate goals. This range does not include other components of our total compensation package, such as retirement contributions, benefits, paid time off, and other non-wage elements. The salary offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, work location, internal pay equity, and other relevant considerations.

This position can be performed from our office in London, Ontario or remotely within Canada. Remote-based employees may occasionally be asked to travel to our office, industry conferences, client sites, and partner events.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, readable, and testable code in Java

• Strong understanding of Git, Maven, Spring and Docker
• Strong SQL background with the ability to write complex queries
• Experience and proficiency in working with Linux
• Experience in working within a team using Agile Methodologies (Kanban)
• Familiarity with the following technologies is a plus: MyBatis, ActiveMQ, WildFly, Alfresco Content Services (ACS), Solr, Redis, Jaspersoft, Selenium, Jenkins and PL/SQL
