Job summary

Canada Life is seeking a Senior Software Developer to design, build and support enterprise-scale solutions for our Workplace Retirement Services Technology team. You will lead full-stack development, mentor engineers and drive engineering excellence in a complex financial services environment.

The role focuses on modernizing platforms, solving challenging problems and delivering secure, scalable software. The base salary range is disclosed and total rewards are discussed in the next steps.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience with full-stack emphasis.
• Experience with front-end, APIs, integrations and databases.
• Cloud platforms, containerization, and Azure-based solutions.
• Experience in financial services, insurance, retirement, wealth management, banking or investment industries preferred.
• Strong understanding of OO design, design patterns and modern development practices.
• Experience with Agile delivery, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, code quality tools and production support.
• University or College education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Reliability Status Security Clearance – costs covered by employer.

What You'll Do

What You'll Bring

• 5+ years of software development experience, with full-stack development experience strongly preferred with hands on experience across:
  • Front-end development, APIs, integrations and database technologies
  • Cloud platforms, containerization and Azure-based solutions
  • Legacy modernization, microservices and enterprise integration patterns
• Experience within financial services, insurance, retirement, wealth management, banking or investment industries preferred.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, design patterns and modern development practices.
• Experience with Agile delivery, DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, code quality tools and production support.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across business and technology teams.
• University or College education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that is required as a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website. The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life.

The base salary for this position is between $80,400 - $130,400 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
