Job summary

We are looking for a self‑motivated and experienced Senior Software Developer to join our team. Our organizational ecosystem comprises cloud services, desktop add‑ins, and web application and client components. In this role, you will play a key role in developing components and services across the Informed Design organization. You will solve complex problems of diverse scope by taking a new perspective on existing solutions and applying knowledge of best practices in practical situations. You will also be responsible for the full lifecycle of our products, from writing and evolving code to deploying, monitoring and providing support in production. Success depends not only on technical strengths but also on the ability to collaborate, communicate, and contribute positively to a team that values trust, mutual support and respect for different perspectives and skill sets. This position can be based anywhere in Canada and is a remote‑friendly role.

Responsibilities

• Involved with all aspects of software development, working to create and maintain the most reliable, secure, performant, and efficient web/desktop applications and high‑throughput services for our customers
• Partner closely with product managers, product owners, software architects and other stakeholders to iteratively turn high‑level requirements into product enhancements that are delivered to customers incrementally and continually
• Be an integral member of our scrum team and contribute to our codebase and overall team success
• Contribute to software design and architecture by leveraging software design patterns and injecting your expertise into the entire development lifecycle
• Contribute to improvements in processes and deliverables that increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the team in responding to customer and business needs
• Research and prototype innovative ideas, technologies and patterns.
• Document and present your ideas and solutions accurately and thoroughly
• Utilize LLMs and AI tools like Claude, Copilot, Cursor or equivalent to improve productivity, efficiency and code quality
• Leverage modern development tools, including AI‑assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude) to improve productivity, efficiency and code quality
• Participate in on‑call rotations to support production systems

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• 5+ years of hands‑on software development experience with application and cloud services development
• Experience building software projects with Typescript, C# and/or Python
• Solid understanding of web or desktop application architecture, including data, application and web tiers and how those components behave in production
• Experience building secure APIs, Microservices and Desktop applications
• Experience with Relational database technologies, e.g. Postgres, including schema design, query performance and operational considerations
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, alerting and incident response practices
• Demonstrated ability with using AI‑assisted tools and techniques as a productivity multiplier for software development, debugging, testing and operational problem‑solving
• Hands‑on experience with unit and automated testing tools such as Cypress, Playwright, etc
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to converse with multiple audiences, not limited to SW Developers, Managers, etc
• Self‑directed and a strong sense of ownership with the ability to work independently while balancing multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS services and technologies (e.g. Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS)
• Experience building or working with CAD applications such as Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit, or other CAD + AEC design software
• Experience applying AI or automation to improve testing, operational efficiency and developer productivity
• Strong preference for simple solutions first over complex solutions
• Exposure to DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For Canada based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $107,000 and $157,300. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
