Job description

Senior Social Media & Digital Content Specialist
The Opportunity

NKPR is looking for an experienced Senior Social Media & Digital Content Specialist to join our Toronto team and help shape how NKPR shows up across its digital channels.

This is a senior, hands-on creative role for someone who knows how to turn an idea, story or business objective into content that people actually want to engage with. You’ll take ownership of social and digital content from concept through execution — developing content calendars, writing copy, creating visual assets, capturing and editing short-form video, publishing content, engaging with our online community and monitoring performance.

You’ll work closely with NKPR’s PR and leadership teams to identify stories worth telling and translate agency news, media moments, events, thought leadership and cultural conversations into smart, timely and engaging digital content.

We’re looking for someone who combines exceptional writing with strong visual instincts and strategic thinking, understands what makes content perform across different platforms and stays closely connected to social trends and evolving best practices.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll be expected to work with a high degree of independence, proactively bring forward ideas and recommendations, and provide guidance and mentorship to more junior team members when needed.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and manage content calendars across NKPR’s social and digital channels, ensuring content aligns with broader agency priorities and brand objectives.
  • Write engaging, brand-aligned copy for Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, newsletters, website content and other digital platforms.
  • Conceptualize and create compelling social-first content, including graphics, carousels, Reels, short-form video and other visual assets.
  • Capture, produce and edit content from agency initiatives, events, media moments and other relevant opportunities.
  • Publish and schedule content while ensuring accuracy, consistency and appropriate timing across platforms.
  • Manage day-to-day community engagement, including comments, messages, mentions and relevant conversations.
  • Identify opportunities to grow NKPR’s social channels and build an active, engaged audience.
  • Stay on top of social media trends, platform updates, emerging formats and cultural conversations, and identify where NKPR can participate authentically.
  • Proactively develop new content concepts and bring forward ideas and recommendations rather than waiting for assignments.
  • Support social campaigns, newsletters, paid initiatives, strategic partnerships and promotions.
  • Monitor and analyze content performance and use insights to inform future content and channel recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with PR teams to identify agency news, thought leadership, events, media coverage and other stories that can be translated into engaging social content.
  • Maintain a consistent NKPR brand voice and visual identity across digital touchpoints.
  • Provide guidance, feedback and mentorship to junior team members, interns or freelancers supporting social and digital content, as required.
  • Review content and creative work when appropriate to help maintain a consistently high standard across NKPR’s digital channels.
  • Independently manage projects from concept through execution, balancing timelines, priorities and multiple stakeholders.
  • Attend and capture content at relevant agency and industry events, including occasional evening and weekend commitments as required.
What We’re Looking For
  • 5–7 years of professional experience in social media, digital content creation and copywriting, ideally within a PR, communications, marketing or creative agency environment.
  • Previous agency experience is strongly preferred, with an understanding of the pace, collaboration and responsiveness required in a client-service environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing content within an established brand voice and visual identity, with the ability to adapt your creative approach to different brands, audiences and objectives.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating professional social media content created on behalf of brands, organizations or clients, including copywriting, visual content and creative execution across multiple formats and platforms.
  • Experience working closely with PR or communications teams and translating media moments, thought leadership, events and broader communications initiatives into social and digital content is considered a strong asset.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt voice, tone and messaging for different platforms and audiences.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating social media content, copywriting and creative execution across multiple formats and platforms.
  • Hands- on experience creating social-first visual and video content, including capturing and editing content for Reels and other short-form formats.
  • Strong proficiency with content creation and editing tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut or similar platforms.
  • Deep familiarity with Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Facebook and other major social platforms.
  • Strong understanding of social media trends, engagement strategies, platform best practices, analytics and emerging content formats.
  • Experience using social and digital performance data to evaluate content and inform future recommendations.
  • Previous experience mentoring, supervising or providing guidance to junior team members, interns or freelancers is preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing polished, accurate work.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to independently manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive mindset — you notice opportunities, bring forward ideas and take ownership of execution.
  • Strong judgment and the confidence to make recommendations and provide a senior point of view on social and digital content.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across PR, creative and leadership teams.
  • Flexibility to attend and support occasional events and content opportunities outside of regular business hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • A genuine interest in digital culture, storytelling and what makes brands relevant online.
What Success Looks Like

You understand NKPR’s voice and know how to translate it into content that feels timely, polished and distinctly ours. You consistently bring forward fresh ideas, execute them with strong attention to detail and understand how to adapt a story for different social platforms and audiences.

You don’t just execute a content calendar — you help determine what should be on it. You proactively identify stories, trends and opportunities and bring forward thoughtful recommendations about how NKPR can make the most of them.

You’re equally comfortable writing a strong LinkedIn post, developing an Instagram carousel, capturing and editing a Reel, reviewing another team member’s work or spotting a trend that could become a relevant content opportunity.

You understand how to look at content performance and use those insights to continuously improve what we create and how we engage our audiences. And you're organized enough to keep planned content moving while remaining flexible enough to respond quickly when an unexpected opportunity comes up.

You’re also a resource to the broader team — someone colleagues can turn to for guidance on social platforms, content best practices and digital storytelling.

Most importantly, you take ownership of NKPR’s social presence and are constantly thinking about how we can make it stronger.
