Job description

Job Description Summary

Systems engineering is a cross-functional discipline focused on designing optimized plant systems for the GE Vernova BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR). It involves understanding customer needs, designing systems, performing trade studies, and ensuring proper integration and execution. The Senior System Engineer will support site engineering at the SMR-X construction site in Darlington, working with various teams to ensure design quality and compliance during construction.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support Mechanical Systems engineering activities at the construction site as part of the Site Engineering Office.
  • Lead analysis and design work supporting system requirements and specifications.
  • Manage Field Change Notices (FCN) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).
  • Provide technical support for site problems.
  • Contribute to the Systems Engineering leadership team, ensuring all technical deliverables support the BWRX-300 SMR design.
  • Coordinate with customers, engineering leadership, and project management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete system design activities.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions based on quality monitoring and audits.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of engineering experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in nuclear plant modifications, construction, or fabrication.
  • At least 4 years in nuclear system design activities.
  • 6 years of experience managing multiple projects in a safety-conscious environment.
  • Ontario P. Eng. certification.

Eligibility Requirements:

Work onsite 5 days a week at the Darlington Nuclear Site in Oshawa.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering.
  • Located at the Darlington site.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proven problem-solving and program management abilities.

GE requires legal authorization to work in Canada for this role. Access to certain information is subject to U.S. Export Control Laws, and candidates must meet specific citizenship criteria.

Employment is contingent upon background checks and legal work authorization in Canada.
