We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Service Reliability and Operations group. We provide an innovative team environment and opportunities to build, operate, and support scalable and reliable services that underpin Thomson Reuters’ products.
About the Role
In this role as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will:
- Implement site reliability engineering and DevOps best practices, feeding non-functional requirements into the product backlog, such as high availability, scalability, self-healing, observability, continuous delivery, and security.
- Build and maintain monitoring for infrastructure, micro-services, and platforms, and implement alerting mechanisms using cloud-native solutions.
- Provide primary operational support and engineering for distributed platforms.
- Act as the go-to person for production issues, troubleshooting and monitoring until resolution, effective communication, postmortems, and implementing lessons learned.
- Maintain IaC and CI/CD processes, promoting best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement and technical standards to enhance productivity, monitoring, tooling, and industry best practices.
- Participate in on-call rotations, leading troubleshooting and mitigation activities during incidents.
- Maintain end-to-end security and stay updated with emerging cloud technology trends, especially around DevOps, Service Reliability, and Security.
- Adopt operational principles to ensure consistency and efficiency across teams.
- Document tribal knowledge and keep documentation and runbooks up-to-date.
- Collaborate effectively within our teams across Canada, US, Mexico, and India.
About You
You’re a fit for the role if you:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- Have 6-10 years of experience as a DevOps/SRE engineer and cloud engineer with hands-on AWS experience.
- Are highly skilled in UNIX/Linux systems.
- Have proven experience in building and operating production cloud-native infrastructure, applications, and services on AWS.
- Have experience with container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and Istio.
- Have experience with AWS services such as CloudFront, EKS, ECS, RDS, and security controls.
- Have at least 2 years of scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash).
- Are familiar with observability tools like DataDog, ELK, SumoLogic, CloudWatch.
- Have experience with version control and CI/CD tools (Git, Azure DevOps, JFrog Artifactory).
- Have experience writing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Are a team player with a positive attitude.
