What can you expect in this role?
As a member of the Security Architecture team, the Architect is accountable for the architecture and design of secure, scalable, and quality solutions.
- Help guide the execution of deliverables from inception to implementation, not only collaborating with the delivery teams to ensure business needs are being met but also architecture peers to establish clear alignment with Enterprise Security Architecture principles, strategies and roadmaps.
- Success in this role will include collaborating with the business on emerging challenges and opportunities and establishing and maintaining the security architecture including the strategy and planning for cloud, applications, platforms, infrastructure, network, and data architecture.
- Define the detailed security solution architecture including all functional and non-functional requirements, often crossing multiple technology domains.
- Possess a clear grasp on emotional intelligence and ability to build strong trusting relationships across the enterprise.
- Prepare and present options analysis material to key Security, IT and Business stakeholders.
- Work with delivery teams and integrators on the implementation of security controls, supporting, guiding, and influencing them throughout projects lifecycle
- Participate in security solutions selection, evaluations, and acquisition processes
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to ensure strategic alignment to security architecture principles, strategies, and roadmaps
- Participate in the Enterprise Architecture community by showcasing your creativity and expertise to help formulate and shape security architecture patterns and execute on strategies
- As an expert in security architecture domain provide support and mentorship to security operational and delivery teams in their day-to-day activities, as required
- Brings a strong understanding of information security and/or IT risk & compliance management with a focus on security, performance, and data privacy.
What do you bring to the role?
- 10+ years security architecture, engineering or related experience.
- University degree in a related discipline
- Advanced knowledge in multiple security domains such as identity and access control, cloud security, network security, operations security, application security, cryptography, computer forensics, security architecture and design, development and system security, and end user devices security
- Proficient in related security industry standards, tools, frameworks, and patterns, such as NIST and PCI and how they apply to practical implementable controls in modern operating environments.
- You have an ability to understand complex business architecture and processes such that you can apply your technical knowledge in a meaningful and effective manner to maximize benefit while reducing risks and optimizing investment
- Applicable experience implementing security solutions in a medium to large enterprise is a must.
- Brings a strong understanding of information security and/or IT risk & compliance management with a focus on security, performance, and data privacy.
- Experience with a wide breath of tools, operating systems, programming/scripting languages, cloud and datacenter is a must with a drive to continually learn and embrace new technology
- Cloud security implementation expertise is a must, including in depth knowledge of AWS, GCP and Azure and cloud security certifications
- Experience in the financial sector, and specifically the insurance industry is a very strong asset
- Open to Waterloo or Toronto for hybrid work location 3 days a week on site
