About us

Aquanow is a trading and technology company powering the next generation of financial services. We’re at the forefront of the rapidly evolving digital asset space, empowering businesses to navigate the complexities of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies. As a leading provider of infrastructure solutions, we offer innovative services in cryptocurrency trading, liquidity management, and secure digital asset storage. Our platform is built to deliver seamless, scalable, and reliable solutions that cater to the needs of institutional clients and businesses seeking to unlock the potential of digital finance. Aquanow is committed to driving growth and shaping the future of the digital economy by offering unparalleled opportunities for innovation and advancement in the world of digital assets.

With rapid global expansion, we have established offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Dubai, Malaysia, Turkey, and beyond. Our international customer base includes some of the world’s fastest-growing fintech companies and leading financial institutions.

Your Contribution to Our Growth

As a Senior SDET at Aquanow, you’ll play a critical role in raising the bar for software quality as we expand our digital asset infrastructure. You'll work closely with engineering managers and product owners to assess testing feasibility early in the development cycle, and take ownership of managing test strategy across multiple releases and teams. From building reliable API automation using Playwright and TypeScript, to mentoring QA team members and training developers on quality best practices, your contributions will help make quality a shared responsibility across the org.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you'll not only reduce automation debt and improve test coverage, but also influence how quality is integrated into our development lifecycle. You’ll support greenfield projects across Market Operations, Treasury, and Trading, and take part in evolving our automation framework as we move to a monorepo setup. If you enjoy working across frontend, backend, and infrastructure layers, and want to help shape the future of quality in a fast-paced crypto environment, this is a unique opportunity to lead from the front.

This is a full-time, permanent, hybrid role either out of our Downtown Vancouver or Downtown Toronto office.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with engineering managers and product owners to analyze new requirements and assess testability of new requirements before development begins.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive, well-documented suite of automated and manual tests, ensuring visibility across product and engineering teams.
  • Perform regular test coverage audits and work with stakeholders to prioritize and integrate automation into the development lifecycle.
  • Lead testing efforts across software releases, maintaining high confidence in system stability and reliability.
  • Create robust and scalable API test suites using Playwright and TypeScript
  • Mentor other QA team members and support developers in adopting better testing practices.
  • Help evolve our automation framework and workflows to support long-term scalability and quality.

We’d Love to See

  • 7+ years of experience in software development or testing with a strong focus on automation.
  • Proven experience in an SDET or QAE role, with deep understanding of QA methodology, tools, and automation strategy.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong technical experience in API and UI testing methodologies.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript / Node.js and experience with Playwright or similar frameworks (e.g. Cypress).
  • Hands-on experience with testing across frontend, backend, performance, and security domains.
  • Solid understanding of AWS services and how it can be leveraged in testing environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile workflows, including story refinement and sprint planning.
  • Experience with load / performance testing tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of CI / CD and QA automation tooling such as GitHub Actions.
  • Background in fintech, trading, payments, or a strong interest in crypto and decentralized finance.
  • These are not strict requirements to thrive in this role. We believe that people can learn and understand technologies if they are willing. We encourage you to still apply if some of the requirements are missing or lacking.

At our offices you will find a group of people that embrace diversity and value performance over pedigree. Every day we draw value from the diverse experiences of our team whose backgrounds include top financial institutions, tech companies and untraditional backgrounds. Our success comes from identifying exceptional people and providing them with the platform to reach their true potential.
