Our mission is to deliver on the promise of precision medicine through targeted radiation. We aim to create products that improve the quality of life for people living with cancer and rare diseases.

The role of Sr. Scientist Oncology Research involves advancing preclinical research in radiopharmaceuticals for oncology, with an emphasis on developing combination therapies that leverage biological insights for synergistic or additive effects. The incumbent will oversee research projects, collaborate with cross-functional and remote teams, and adapt to evolving data to inform experimental design and strategy. The position requires expertise in cancer biology or immunology and offers the opportunity to contribute to next-generation therapeutic approaches in a rapidly evolving field.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Strategic Research Identification: Proactively identify and evaluate high-impact research opportunities integrating radiopharmaceuticals with standard-of-care modalities, including immunotherapy, to advance Telix's oncology pipeline.
  2. Collaborative Study: Design and partner with internal teams and external collaborators (academic institutions and industry partners) to develop hypothesis-driven preclinical studies that generate proof-of-concept and mechanism-of-action data for innovative combination therapies.
  3. Protocol Oversight and Development: Lead the drafting, review, and refinement of preclinical study protocols, ensuring scientific integrity, clarity, and alignment with project objectives.
  4. Data and Documentation Management: Ensure all preclinical study data, methodologies, and reports are accurately documented, up-to-date, and compliant with standards and regulations.
  5. Scientific Surveillance and Thought Leadership: Stay current with emerging literature and developments in radiopharmaceuticals, immunotherapy, tumor microenvironment biology, and related areas to inform research strategy and maintain scientific leadership.
  6. Technical Expertise and Guidance: Provide expert input to internal stakeholders and external collaborators on experimental design, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
  7. Project Tracking and Milestone Management: Collaborate with project managers to monitor progress, anticipate challenges, and ensure timely achievement of milestones across projects.
  8. Due Diligence Support: Contribute to scientific due diligence by evaluating potential collaborations and asset opportunities, providing insights on biological relevance, feasibility, and strategic fit.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree plus 8 years, or Master's degree plus 6 years, or PhD plus 5 years in preclinical oncology research.
  • At least 4 years of experience conducting experiments in syngeneic tumor models.
  • Experience in Immuno-Oncology or tumor microenvironment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing research studies with external partners (academic or CRO) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with radiopharmaceutical research is preferred.
  • Knowledge of tumor stroma biology is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cellular immunological, gene expression, biomarker, and in vitro/ex vivo assays (e.g., flow cytometry, IHC, qPCR) is preferred.
