Job summary

Dokainish & Company in downtown Toronto, Ontario, seeks a Senior Scheduler to own complex scheduling across multiple projects for diverse clients. You will develop, manage, and analyze schedules that reveal progress, risks, and opportunities, combining technical excellence with leadership and client-facing responsibilities.

The role requires a degree in Engineering or related field, 7+ years scheduling experience, proficiency with Primavera P6 or MS Project, CPM and earned value management, plus

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of project scheduling experience in engineering/consulting environments.
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Deep CPM understanding, project controls, and earned value management.
  • Ability to manage multiple schedules across complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint for reporting.
  • Experience in consulting across infrastructure/energy/transport sectors is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and client management skills.
  • Professional, ethical, and mature in an organizational context.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and able to work independently; travel may be required.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development, integration, and maintenance of baseline schedules across project phases.
  • Collaborate with PMs, clients, and internal teams to ensure realistic, compliant schedules.
  • Provide analysis of schedule performance, critical paths, variances, risks, and mitigations.
  • Facilitate schedule review meetings with clients and stakeholders with clear insights.
  • Conduct schedule impact and delay analyses to support claims and recovery plans.
  • Promote best practices in schedule management and project controls.
  • Prepare schedules, progress reports, dashboards, and executive summaries.
  • Maintain Health & Safety standards compliance.
  • Mentor junior team members to build scheduling capability.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Scheduler, you will take ownership of complex scheduling activities across multiple projects and clients. You will work closely with project teams to develop, manage, and analyze schedules that provide clear insight into project progress, risks, and opportunities. This is a pivotal role combining technical excellence with leadership and client-facing responsibilities.

This is a full-time, non-remote, in-office position based in downtown Toronto, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, integration, and maintenance of project baseline schedules across all project phases.
  • Partner with project managers, clients, and internal teams to ensure schedules are accurate, realistic, and aligned with project goals and contractual obligations.
  • Provide expert-level analysis of schedule performance, identifying critical paths, variances, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate and lead schedule review meetings with clients and stakeholders, presenting insights and recommendations with confidence and clarity.
  • Conduct detailed schedule impact and delay analyses, supporting claims, forecasts, and recovery plans.
  • Champion best practices in schedule management and project controls across the organization.
  • Prepare high-quality schedule and progress reports, dashboards, and executive summaries for internal and client use.
  • Maintain a strong focus on Health & Safety standards, ensuring compliance with all applicable acts, regulations, and codes.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering skill development and consistency in scheduling practices.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
  • College or university degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in project scheduling within an engineering, consulting, or professional services environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Deep understanding of the Critical Path Method (CPM), project controls principles, and earned value management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple schedules across complex projects with competing priorities.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of construction disciplines, safety regulations, quality, and cost control.
  • Consulting experience and exposure to multiple sectors (infrastructure, energy, transportation, etc.) are strong assets.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and client relationship management skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and organizational maturity.
  • Collaborative and proactive approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to travel and occasionally work outside standard business hours.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
