Job description

The Senior Scheduler for Ship Repair is an experienced role that focuses on sequencing work through change and maintaining the schedule throughout the project lifecycle. The role involves closely monitoring timelines, identifying potential delays, and coordinating with other functions and subcontractors to implement corrective actions. This position is a key communicator of project health.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree; preferably in technical, engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in a similar role, or in a shipbuilding environment.
  • Experience in ship repair and the ability to effectively sequence work scopes is essential.
  • While experience with scheduling tools is advantageous, it is not a requirement as training will be provided.
  • Lean/Six sigma Yellow and Green Belts would be considered assets.
  • Experience using AutoCAD would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of naval repair methods is considered useful.
  • High levels of familiarization with ship construction terminology.
  • Primavera P6 experience is an asset.
  • Ability to multi-task work under pressure in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player and self-starter.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.

Responsibilities
  • Monitoring schedule adherence on a ship.
  • Ensure schedule budgets are maintained to accurately match project contracts as the scope of work evolves to include cancellations, adjustments, and increases in scope of work.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure activity breakdown, logic sequence, are accurately maintained in the project schedule.
  • Utilize contract documentation and estimating work/material to create the project schedule.
  • Daily maintenance of the Project Schedule to ensure the current progress of the project is accurately represented.
