Job summary

Jobtailor is looking for a senior Satellite Communications Link Engineer to lead verification and validation efforts for the Telesat Lightspeed system. You will develop verification matrices and define comprehensive link scenarios to ensure reliable feeder and user link performance.

Ideal candidates have extensive experience with Ka-band, DVB-S2X/S2, and hands-on RF testing, collaborating with antenna vendors and modem teams to validate end-to-end link behavior in lab and field contexts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering.
• 12+ years of relevant experience in satellite communications.
• 5+ years with Ka-band antennas and satellite RF systems.
• Strong knowledge of DVB-S2(X) and DVB-RCS2.
• Hands-on RF test equipment experience (oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers).

Responsibilities

• Provide recommendations and influence verification and validation of the Telesat Lightspeed system.
• Develop verification matrices for feeder and user link system requirements, including spectrum usage, carrier sizes, polarization, and power control.
• Define link establishment, maintenance, and degradation scenarios.
• Design and execute tests for coverage, elevation limits, spectrum assignment, fading, interference, and outages.
