Job description

The Senior SAP Functional Consultant is a key liaison between the Business Analyst and application development. The role is responsible for determining SAP design and configuration solutions that translate business needs into development requirements. Understands business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals on time and within budget.

This role will work independently and in collaboration with IT Business Services to design, configure test and support quality IT strategic SAP solutions as follows: Work with Business Analysts and Developers to assess current technical capabilities in order to propose technical solutions for business requirements – translate business requirements into technical requirements; Support unit testing teams in translating requirements and use cases into test conditions and expected results; Execute unit testing; Adhere to existing processes/standards including the system development life cycle and project management methodology, architecture and escalate issues if necessary; Contribute to the development of project plans by participating in the scoping and estimating of proposed projects; Communicate project status and provide timely escalation of issues to the Project manager or Application manager; Perform analysis of business, system and data requirements; Provide mentoring and coaching on best practices to junior team members; Provide assistance and review of work for junior staff members; Provide exceptional services to IT and business areas.

Responsibilities

• Work with internal BA’s and project members to identify business issues, problems and/or enhancements and provide highly innovative and creative solutions that achieve quality and process improvements with available hardware, software, databases and peripherals
• Work with BA Team to facilitate business requirements gathering process (SAP blueprinting)
• Work closely with BA team developing a test strategy (particularly UAT)
• Work closely with the development team translating business requirements into development requirements
• Provide on call support for SAP end of day batch processing
• Document inventory of configuration and enhancements in a functional area
• Work with other Functional leads to understand cross functional solutions and impact on projects and support
• Provide coaching/training to junior team members
• Maintain relevant documentation in compliance with regulatory guidelines including AMLTF legislation
• Increase knowledge of risk management practices and techniques
• Participate in the review of Audit results for IT group and Compliance action plans identified by Audit
• Ensure all company-wide training is completed in a timely manner

Requirements

• SAP CML, Treasury, FICO or Deposits certified
• 5+ years in financial industry required, preferably banking and loans management. Specific experience in mortgage servicing and origination is highly valued
• 3+ years experience in SAP
• CML and FICO is a must have. SAP CRM, Treasury or Deposits experience is a nice to have.
• 5+ years with SAP projects; 5+ years as functional lead in SAP projects
• SDLC project experience participating in blue printing and configuration
• Defect Management experience for Post Production Support
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills allowing easy integration with other functional consultants and team members

This is a permanent position located in downtown Toronto, ON with an annual salary of $130,000.00 plus bonus and benefits.
